Do I need to already know how to improvise to attend the summer course INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL OF IMPROVISATION?
No, it is not necessary to know how to improvise. However, it is better to have a certain familiarity with your instrument so that you don’t feel at a loss when trying to produce the sounds you wish to hear.

If I have some experience in improvisation, can I already join the second level?
No. The course is designed to build the theme of contextualized improvisation from the ground up—that is, from the challenges inherent in Renaissance aesthetics. This approach allows us to focus on the improvisational process rather than just the final result. Therefore, starting with the Level 1 course helps you understand the underlying implications of the musical improvisation process.

Is the summer course INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL OF IMPROVISATION only for professionals?
No, the course is open to professionals of any instrument or voice, students, and even some amateur musicians. In any case, it is important that everyone is at a level where they can produce the sounds they want from their instrument.

Is the summer course INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL OF IMPROVISATION only for instrumentalists?
No, both instrumentalists and vocalists are welcome.

I’m afraid of horses: will I be forced to try riding a horse during the course?
Absolutely not. The horse-related activities do not include riding. The work is carried out on the ground, and your choice to approach the horse or not will be fully respected.

What usually happens during a typical day of the course?
The course days generally begin with physical engagement in parallel disciplines (Horsemanship, Fencing, Theater, Dance), after which the musical implications of these physical gestures are explored. In the afternoon, the aesthetic building blocks of the Renaissance experience are constructed and then experimented in music. In the evening, lighter activities are usually planned.

I wouldn’t want to take fencing lessons because I am against war.
The fencing activity is not linked in any way to war-mongering or any militant ideology among the course participants. Fencing is used solely as an activity that stimulates the physical and neurological engagement typical of a certain historical period, encouraging reflection and experimentation on our current responses, and exploring the meaning behind certain expressive codes.

I am scared to do mistakes. I would like not to be scared like I am.
This is the right place for you. Mistakes are important steps of our growth, and everyone in the course will take care of eachother in orther to transform the mistakes in somethig important for our development.
